Program Overview
The international and interdisciplinary master's degree program in Innovation Management, Entrepreneurship, and Sustainability (IMES) teaches students the fundamental principles of innovation management, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. This includes issues on operative, tactical, and strategic levels relevant to founding new businesses or working in R&D. The curriculum encompasses relevant social, economic, and social science issues from theory and practice.

Admission Requirements
To apply to the IMES master's program, applicants must provide proof of a first university degree in the fields of economics (including business administration), social sciences, engineering sciences, natural sciences, or any related study program. The IMES master's program is taught in English, and applicants must submit proof of language skills at the C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
A ranking list is created of all applicants who fulfill the admission requirements, weighing both the final grade of the previous degree and awards points based on certain criteria, including:
- Courses in the field of economics
- Courses in the field of methodology/logic
- Courses in the field of ecological and social sustainability
- Courses in the field of mathematics
- Courses in the field of statistics
Program Structure
A total of 120 credit points must be achieved, with at least 90 credit points in modules and 30 credit points in the Master's thesis. The program is designed to be completed within four semesters. During the first two semesters, students complete 60 ECTS in mandatory and mandatory elective courses at TU Berlin. An internship is not a required component of the IMES master's degree program.
Content and Modules
The master's degree program IMES consists of modules covering the three major fields inherent to the program: innovation management, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. Teaching and learning methods often include various formats like lectures, practical tutorials, seminars, and practical projects. Team projects and presentations are common in most of the modules.
Internships
An internship is not a required component of the IMES master's degree program.
Stays Abroad
If the first professionally qualifying university degree or Bachelor's degree was obtained at a German university, at least one semester abroad is required as part of the degree course. This usually takes place from the third semester or after 60 ECTS have been achieved. Students can benefit from a double degree and studying abroad at a partner university.
Acquired Skills
As a graduate, students are able to independently investigate questions from economics and social science, competently and thoroughly evaluate research positions and results, and apply these to their own research.

Double Degree
Graduates of the IMES program receive a double degree: the Master of Science from TU Berlin and, as a second degree, one of the following:
- Master of Science in Business Administration from the University of Twente (Netherlands)
- Master in Management from the Warsaw School of Economics (Poland)
- Master of Science in Entrepreneurship from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim (Norway)
