Program Overview
Public Health Bachelor's Degree
The Public Health degree is designed for those interested in gaining knowledge and skills in various health-related areas, such as biostatistics, environmental science, epidemiology, health policy, health communication, and health behavior. This degree program prepares students for jobs in local, state, and national government health agencies, as well as private and non-profit health organizations.

Admission Requirements
To apply to the Public Health program, students must meet the university's general admission requirements. There are no additional admission requirements to declare this major.

The Honors Experience
The University of Texas at San Antonio's Honors College offers experiential learning, hands-on classes, and project-based programs that are customizable to fit individual goals. Students in any major can be invited to the Honors College.

College for Health, Community and Policy
The College for Health, Community and Policy (HCAP) provides real-world experiences and engages directly with the community. The college contains nine academic disciplines, including public health, and offers research opportunities, career preparedness, and student success resources.
Research Opportunities
Research is important in the field of Health, Community and Policy. Students can be involved in conducting research studies as early as their freshman year, exploring areas such as vaccine access, substance abuse prevention, and health impacts.
Career Preparedness
The HCAP has a dedicated internship director who coordinates with employers to provide internship opportunities and advice for students. Courses offer career-engaged learning experiences, including undergraduate research, internships, and field experiences.
Student Success
The HCAP Student Success Center provides additional support outside the classroom, including tutoring, internships, job opportunities, and professional development skills. The center helps students achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals.
