Throughout this master's, students gain key international business management knowledge to proceed to professional and managerial careers in private, public, and third-sector businesses. The programme is centred on employability and professional career readiness. If the first year is completed at an appropriate level, students progress to year two, which includes a year-long company placement to develop and reflect on learning in a workplace setting.
Students develop an understanding of theories and models used to support and understand issues within international business management. They critically evaluate the roles of business management within the international context and apply problem-solving skills to generate strategic options for resolving problems. The MSc provides students with the skills to apply knowledge and understanding to professional practice and solve business management problems.
Beyond subject knowledge and skills, students gain key transferable skills, including effective teamwork, identification of areas for continued professional development, effective communication, application of ICT resources, and evaluation of graphical and numerical data. This skillset makes students highly sought after upon graduation.
Students have the opportunity to specialise by choosing two optional courses, such as measuring and managing performance, financial analysis, managing diversity in business, and project management, to customise their learning and develop specific interests. The international business management dissertation allows students to build on their interests by completing an original research project at the forefront of knowledge.
