The BSc Mathematics with German programme combines a rigorous education in mathematical theory and practice, developing expertise across pure and applied mathematics, statistics, and computational mathematics with the opportunity to master a modern language taught by discipline experts. Students also have the opportunity to study mathematics at a German partner institution, the University in Dresden. On this programme, you will learn mathematics while also becoming fluent in a European language and absorbing the German culture on the year abroad. Year 1
- Eases the transition from school to university. You will take courses in calculus and algebra which continue from school study, statistics, problem-solving, and the use of computer packages. In your chosen language, you will take courses in translation, aural comprehension, and writing and spoken courses.

Year 2
- You will continue your study of calculus and algebra, taking courses in multivariable calculus and real analysis and linear algebra. You will start the study of pure and applied mathematics and numerical analysis. In language courses, you will continue with translation, spoken, and written classes in preparation for studying abroad in the third year.

Year 3
- Is spent studying mathematics at a European university as part of an organized student study course. At the time of publication, students studying:

- Highers: ABBBB (over two sittings). Must include Maths achieved at A and German at B.
- A-Levels: BBB. Must include Maths and German achieved at B.
- International Baccalaureate: 28 points. Must include Maths and German achieved at Higher Level 5.
- BTEC Extended Diploma: DDM. Must be in a relevant subject and contain sufficient Maths.
- HNC: B in graded unit. Must be in a relevant subject and contain sufficient Maths at SCQF Level 6.
- HND: BB in graded units. Must be in a relevant subject and contain sufficient Maths at SCQF Level 6.
- Minimum entry requirements:
- Highers: BBBC (over two sittings). Must include Maths and German achieved at B.
