Research on Learning and Instruction: An Interdisciplinary Program (M.A.)

Study Content

The program is designed for educators and teachers in K-12 education, as well as in university education, to identify, assess, and analyze educational problems and solve them in competent and ethical ways. Students acquire comprehensive knowledge and skills related to research on learning and instruction, generating knowledge urgently needed in educational practice.

Career Prospects

The program prepares graduates for careers in educational research and leadership positions in educational institutions. Approximately two-thirds of alumni have commenced doctoral studies following completion of the program.

Special Features

1. Strong Research Orientation: The teaching concept mirrors the process of empirical research, with students producing empirical evidence on the conditions, processes, and effects of learning and instruction under close guidance.
2. Interdisciplinary Focus: Courses take psychological and educational perspectives on learning and instruction, including subject matter didactics and media didactics.
3. Internationalization: Students discuss the current state of international research on learning and instruction and are encouraged to attend international conferences and research stays abroad.
4. Intensive Guidance: Students' research projects are closely supervised by instructors, with an excellent instructor-to-student ratio and opportunities for interaction and discussion.

Admission Requirements

According to § 5 of the exam regulations, prospective students requiring a visa should note the recommended application dates. The application deadline for the winter semester is June 15.

For applicants with a foreign degree:

• APS certificate (for applicants from China, India, and Vietnam)
• Transcript of Records (if the Bachelor's certificate or equivalent degree is not yet available), stating the average grade achieved to date
