Program Overview
The Media and Sports in London program is a four-week study program at the GEO London Centre that offers students an immersive exploration into the dynamic worlds of Media and Sports. Through two complementary courses, students will engage with the evolving relationship between sports, media, and society.

Courses
The program includes two courses:
- JCOM 388: The Culture of Sport and Sports Journalism in the UK (4 credits): This course analyzes the perceived benefits of hosting major sporting events and looks into the culture of sport.
- JCOM 488: Social Media for Journalists (4 credits): This course explores the social media strategies of major news media outlets and journalists, and teaches students how to use social media to verify and manage content.

- Adrian Warner: Instructor for The Culture of Sport and Sports Journalism in the UK, with extensive experience in TV and radio broadcasting, digital and newspaper writing.
- Laura Oliver: Instructor for Social Media for Journalists, a freelance journalist and visiting lecturer in online journalism at City, University of London.
Housing Description
Students will live in a University of London residence hall, with their own single study bedroom and shared bathrooms. The hall is located in central London, close to the GEO Centre, the British Museum, and the London Tube.

- Upon acceptance to program: $500 non-refundable program deposit
- 12 weeks before program start date: 50% of total GEO program fees
- Program start date or after program begins: 100% of total GEO program fees
Scholarship Opportunity
Applicants to this program are eligible for program-specific scholarship funds, with individual awards ranging from $500-$1,500. Award recipients are chosen based on academic merit, financial need, and overall quality of their essay.
Discount for Pell Recipients
GEO is offering a $500 discount for this program to UO students who currently have the Pell Grant as part of their federal financial aid (FAFSA).
