Program Overview
The GlobalWorks Pre-Med Shadowing in Europe (Spain or Italy) program is a Clinical Fellowship that provides AAMC-compliant physician shadowing in an international setting. The program takes place over 4 weeks in the Summer term and is offered in partnership with Atlantis. Fellows will have the opportunity to experience global healthcare with a group of other pre-health students, shadowing doctors in a different specialty each week for at least 20 hours per week.

- Location Options: Students will be assigned a site in Spain or Italy after commitment, based on group-size, site availability, and the order in which applications are received.

Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently
- Flexibility to take on multiple job responsibilities, including entry-level tasks
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, and deal with ambiguity
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work on a team
- Strong attention to accuracy, details, and organizational skills
- Local language proficiency is welcome, but not required

Academic Details
Students will enroll in the following courses:
- OGWI 188: Intercultural Communication (2 or 4 credits)
- OGWI 488: Internship (3 credits) Note: The two courses above are online and asynchronous, and there will not be any in-person lectures.

- Non-UO students: Actual credit awarded is determined by the relevant department at your university in consultation with the study abroad office.
Housing Description
As an intern in Europe, students will be housed in fully furnished shared apartments. All accommodation is vetted and approved by the local vendor to ensure quality and comfort.

Cancellation Policy

- Upon acceptance into the program: Student agrees to $500 non-refundable deposit.
- Less than 60 days before program start: Student is responsible for 100% of the program costs and any additional fees accrued
Discount for Pell Recipients
To expand access to study abroad, GEO is offering a $500 discount for this program to UO students who currently have the Pell Grant as part of their federal financial aid (FAFSA).
