Program Overview
Dankook University (DKU), founded in 1947, is a private research university in South Korea, just outside the capital city of Seoul. The International Summer School (ISS) at DKU offers a range of experiences, including an internship teaching English to DKU students, courses taught in English, and Korean language courses.

Program Structure
Students can participate in either:
- The English Village Internship + the Academic Program
- The Academic Program only
The English Village Internship
The English Village Internship is an English immersion environment where native English-speaking students teach English conversation to DKU students. Participants work with a co-teacher to teach English classes and must also participate in the Academic Program. Note that participants do not receive credits for the English Village teaching internship, although students in the College of Education may be able to apply this experience towards a degree requirement.
The Academic Program
The Academic Program consists of four weeks of classes taught by international and/or Korean professors in English. Classes meet four days a week for three hours a day. Students take one or two classes for a total of five or ten UO credits. Cultural activities and field trips are optional at a nominal cost.

- Non-UO students: Actual credit awarded is determined by the relevant department at the student's university in consultation with the study abroad office.
Housing Description
Students live in university housing, with two students sharing a dormitory room equipped with modern facilities. The dormitory aims to create an international atmosphere, with a mix of Korean and non-Korean students. Facilities include meeting rooms, a fitness exercise room, a snack shop, laundry facilities, and a dining hall.

- Upon acceptance to the program: Student agrees to $500 non-refundable program deposit
- 8 weeks before program start date: Student is responsible for 50% of total GEO program fees
- Program start date or after program begins: Student is responsible for 100% of total GEO program fees
Scholarship Opportunity
If students participate in the English Village internship, they will be offered a round-trip airfare reimbursement up to $1,000. Additionally, there is a $500 discount for this program available to UO students who currently have the Pell Grant as part of their federal financial aid.
