The Tsinghua University Exchange program offers students the opportunity to study Chinese language or take area study courses taught in Chinese at Tsinghua University (TU) in Beijing, China. Application Process

Academic Details
- Chinese Language Program: Intensive courses suited to the student's current ability, with elective classes such as business, Chinese film, calligraphy, martial arts, and painting.
- Advanced Chinese Language and Areas Studies: Area study courses in Chinese, with options from a range of academic disciplines, including business, computer science, history, psychology, journalism, public policy and management, and international relations.
Course Equivalencies
- UO students: Refer to the UO Course Equivalency Process and the UO Office of the Registrar Course Equivalency Database.
- Non-UO students: Actual credit awarded is determined by the relevant department at the student's university in consultation with the study abroad office.
Additional Requirements
- GPA: 3.25 or above for graduate students
- Prior experience in China: Assessed by Global Education Oregon
- Citizenship: Tsinghua University will not accept students who are citizens of the People's Republic of China (PRC)
- Passport: Provide a copy of a non-Chinese passport
- Dual US-Chinese citizens: Eligible, but must apply with their US passport
- Advanced Chinese Language and Areas Studies Program: Minimum of three years of college-level Chinese language
Housing Description
Most exchange students will be housed in the Tsinghua Zi Jing dormitory, with options for double or single rooms. Rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, TV, Internet access, and a shared or private bathroom.

Cancellation Policy
- Cancellation Date: Upon acceptance to the program, 8 weeks before program start date, program start date or after program begins
- Cancellation Penalty: $500 non-refundable program deposit, 50% of total GEO program fees, 100% of total GEO program fees
Important Notes
The GEO Cancellation Policy is effective from the time a student agrees to pay their non-refundable program deposit or electronically signs the program commitment form. Students who cancel their participation must notify GEO in writing.
