Program Overview
The Hanyang University exchange program provides students with the opportunity to study Korean and take courses in English in various academic disciplines. Hanyang University has two campuses: the Seoul campus, which is centrally located in the city, and the ERICA campus, located on the outskirts of Seoul. Hanyang is one of the leading private research universities in South Korea, comprising 25 colleges and enrolling approximately 35,000 students.

Application Process
The application process for this program is competitive. GEO staff will review application materials, and a decision about enrollment will not be made until after the application deadline. In some cases, an interview is required. If the program requires an interview, students will be contacted with further details about this process after the application deadline. Early applications are encouraged.
Selection Criteria
Successful applicants will receive an exchange nomination from GEO. Selection will be based on a holistic review of the application, including:
- GPA
- Transcripts (including courses taken and in-progress)
- Additional requirements or prerequisites
- Written statements
Academic Details
- Students can focus primarily on taking content courses in English and take some Korean language courses.
- If students intend to study Korean language at Hanyang, please note that the Intensive Language Course is not open to exchange students.
- Students with high proficiency in Korean language may be able to directly enroll in coursework taught in Korean.
- Courses in English: Hanyang offers several hundred courses in English each semester, and students may choose from coursework in the humanities, social sciences, sciences, business, and more.
- Exchange students typically take 5-6 courses per semester.
Scholarship Opportunity
Students who study at the Hanyang ERICA campus may be eligible to receive free housing. Students will need to select that they are applying to the ERICA campus in their secondary application for Hanyang University.
Housing Description
On the Seoul campus, on-campus dormitories will not be available until further notice. Instead, Hanyang will share information that students can refer to when arranging accommodation through their newsletter after students are admitted. Students will be responsible for arranging their own housing.

Cancellation Policy
- Cancellation Date: Upon acceptance to the program, student agrees to $500 non-refundable program deposit.
- Cancellation Penalty:
- 8 weeks before program start date: Student is responsible for 50% of total GEO program fees.
- Program start date or after program begins: Student is responsible for 100% of total GEO program fees.
Additional Requirements
- One year of college-level Korean is recommended to facilitate daily life in Seoul and navigating a Korean university.
- If students wish to take regular Hanyang courses taught in Korean, they must demonstrate sufficient Korean language proficiency.
