Program Overview


Program Overview

The CIEE: Summer Communications, New Media, and Journalism in Prague program is designed to provide students with a deeper understanding of global communication trends and contemporary life in the Czech Republic. Students will enroll in courses with other CIEE students in Prague and benefit from field trips, guest lectures, and other events that supplement the academic content of the courses.

Dates and Deadlines

The program offers three different summer sessions. UO students can choose from either Summer Session II, Summer Session III, or both Summer Sessions II and III. The deadlines and dates for each session are as follows:

Application and Selection Process

Selection for the program is based on a review of the written application, recommendation, transcript(s), and completion of the interview process. Qualified applicants are recommended by a GEO Study Abroad Program Advisor, and the final selection of participants is made by CIEE.

Cancellation Policy

The Cancellation Policy is as follows:


  • Cancellation Date | Cancellation Penalty
    • 8 weeks before program start date: 50% of UO Study Abroad Fee
    • Program start date or after program begins: Full amount of UO Study Abroad Fee

Discount for Pell Recipients

A $500 discount is available for UO students who currently have the Pell Grant as part of their federal financial aid (FAFSA).
