The University of Oregon offers various undergraduate research and distinguished scholarship programs to support students in their academic and professional pursuits.
Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship
The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship is a prestigious award for current sophomore and junior students who plan to pursue careers in science, mathematics, or engineering. The scholarship provides up to $7,500 annually to help cover tuition, fees, books, and room and board.
Eligibility
- Institutional endorsement is required; applicants cannot apply directly.
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
- Students must be majoring in mathematics, natural sciences, or engineering and intend to pursue a research career.
- Current sophomores or juniors are eligible, provided they are fully enrolled at the time of application.
Award Highlights
- The scholarship covers eligible expenses for undergraduate tuition, fees, books, and room and board, up to a maximum value of approximately $7,500 per academic year.
- Sophomore-level scholarship recipients can expect to receive a maximum of two years of scholarship support, while junior-level recipients are eligible for a maximum of one year of support.
