Advertising and Brand Responsibility Master's Program
Overview
The Advertising and Brand Responsibility Master's Program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the field of advertising and brand responsibility.
Minimum Requirements
To graduate from the Advertising and Brand Responsibility program, students must complete:
- 46 total graduate credits (500- or 600-level)
- 12 elective credits
- Maintain a cumulative UO GPA of 3.00
Core Courses
All students in the program must complete the following foundational courses:
- JCOM 610 Advanced Curiosity for Strategists (4 credits)
- JCOM 570 Strategic Communication Research (4 credits)
- JCOM 607 Brand Responsibility Seminar (12 credits)
- JCOM 610 Design, Technology, and Culture (4 credits)
- JCOM 611 Media & Society (4 credits)
Terminal Project
All students must complete a terminal project, which requires registration for at least 6 credits of JCOM 609 and approval from a faculty advisor.
Electives
Students must choose at least three graduate-level electives from the SOJC's curriculum, which can include classes in the Strategic Communication Master's program in Portland. Sample elective courses include:
- JCOM 510 Ideasmithing (4 credits)
- JCOM 510 Interactive Media (4 credits)
- JCOM 512 Strategic Social Media (4 credits)
- JCOM 560 Advertising and Culture (4 credits)
- JCOM 560 Essentials of Brand Planning (4 credits)
- JCOM 560 Green Brand Strategy (4 credits)
- JCOM 560 Writing Design Concepts (4 credits)
