Program Overview

Pre-master's Programme

The Pre-master's programme is a transfer programme for students of a Dutch university of applied sciences or a Dutch research university who cannot be admitted directly to the master's they wish to follow. The goal is to bridge the gap between the current bachelor's and the future master's.

What applies to you?

The programme you need to take depends on your previous or current education.

• University of applied sciences (Dutch HBO)
  • As a bachelor's student from a Dutch university of applied sciences (HBO), it is mandatory to follow a pre-master's first to prepare for the Master's in Construction Management and Engineering.
  • You will be taught various scientific skills, and your skills in mathematics will be improved.
  • You will also attend several courses related to Construction Management and Engineering.
  • If you manage to successfully complete this Pre-Master's within one year, you will be able to enrol.
• Dutch research university (Dutch WO)
  • As a bachelor's student of UT or another Dutch research university, you first need to find out if you are directly admissible or if you need to follow this Pre-Master's first.
  • This may be necessary if the Master's comprises a slightly different field of study than your current bachelor's.
• International education
  • As a student holding a foreign degree, you can only apply for the master's directly and do not have the option of participating in a pre-master's.

Study Load

The Pre-Master's is a six-monthly, full-time study programme of 30 EC, which you have to complete within one year.

Language

The Pre-Master's programme is taught in English.

Admission Requirements and How to Apply

To qualify for the (Pre-)Master's in Construction Management and Engineering, you have to meet certain conditions. How you apply depends on whether you take the Pre-Master's during or after your HBO bachelor's.

Costs

You pay a fee per EC, and this Pre-Master's is 30 EC. Each academic year, the amount per EC will be reassessed.

What is Expected of You?

The Pre-master's is designed not only to address any deficiencies in your prior knowledge but also as an effective way to find out whether studying at a research university is right for you. Therefore, the following rules apply:

• The Pre-Master's must be successfully completed within one year.
• There is a maximum of re-sits per course.
• If you do not successfully complete this Pre-Master's, it is not possible to start a pre-master's in another programme at the Faculty of Engineering Technology at the University of Twente.
