Data Science Double Degree with EIT Digital

The EIT Double Degree Programme in Data Science is a unique opportunity for students to study at two European universities and gain a comprehensive understanding of data science and its applications. This programme is designed for students who are passionate about entrepreneurship and business development and want to broaden their horizons by studying abroad for a year.

Structure

The programme focuses on bringing innovations to the market and developing a successful business model. Students will gain technical knowledge and practical skills in scalable data collection, data capture, storage, transfer, and visualization, as well as business development skills. The Innovation and Entrepreneurship minor is an essential part of the programme, where students will take business courses in innovation and entrepreneurship and plan and model an early-stage business that can be the foundation of their own company in the domain of data science.

Partner Universities

Students can study at one of the following partner universities for a year:

  • KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden
  • Technical University of Madrid, Spain
  • University Cote d'Azur in Nice, France
  • Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy
  • Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland
  • Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary

If students choose to study at the University of Twente in their first year, they will take the mandatory courses:

  • Managing Big Data
  • Data Science
  • Machine Learning I
  • Information Theory and Statistics
  • Computer Ethics The Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E) courses form an important part of the programme, including the I&E basics course and the Business Development Lab. Students will also attend a two-week summer school focused on innovation and entrepreneurship.

Exit Year at the University of Twente

The second year of the EIT double degree programme is all about specialising. If students choose to spend their second year at the University of Twente, they have the opportunity to specialise in Data Science for Personal Information. They will take courses that cover areas such as health and sport, well-being, biometrics, and privacy (60 EC). In addition to the mandatory core courses, students need to take at least four advanced courses, such as:

  • Machine Learning II
  • Image Processing and Computer Vision
  • Deep Learning - from Theory to Practice
  • Foundations of Information Retrieval
