Public Speaking Program

The Public Speaking program is designed to help individuals become more confident and engaging public speakers. The course is led by Gerben Tuin, who draws on his multidisciplinary background in physics and performing arts to provide a unique approach to public speaking.

Program Details

The program consists of three evening workshops, each lasting three hours, and three preparation tasks of one hour each. The total duration of the program is 15 hours.

Course Content

The course content focuses on developing verbal and non-verbal communication skills for public speaking. Participants will learn how to:

• Use logic and emotion to engage their audience
• Project authority on their topic
• Manage nervousness and stress
• Understand audience responses and adapt their communication in real-time The course also covers the following topics:
• Employing principles of ethos, pathos, and logos to engage the audience
• Designing and interacting with slides or other aids
• Engaging audience imagination through visuals, body positioning, eye contact, and hand gestures
• Dealing with nerves, obligation, and boredom
• Managing and responding to the audience
• Prioritising and structuring content

Program Outcome

By the end of the program, participants will have developed the skills and confidence to become more effective public speakers. The program is designed to help participants level up their toolkit when it comes to public speaking and go beyond the traditional approach of presenting information.
