Program Overview
The Master of Information Technology is available to International students for study in Australia at Griffith University or via online study. The program is offered full-time on-campus, with some courses available in online mode. Students can complete the program in 1.5 years or 2 years, depending on their prior study and work experience.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for this program, students must meet one of the following criteria:
- A recognized Bachelor degree (or higher) in a related discipline for the 1.5-year duration
- A recognized Bachelor degree (or higher) and five years of relevant work experience for the 2-year duration
- A combination of alternative admission criteria, such as formal, informal, and non-formal learning, deemed equivalent to the above
Language Requirements
English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for entry to this program are:
- A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 6.0
- OR a minimum score of 575 on TOEFL
- OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 79 (no sub-score less than 19)
- OR no score less than 3+ in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by ISLPR Language Services only)
- OR a minimum overall score of 176 (no score less than 169) on C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English) or C2 Proficiency (formerly Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English)
- OR an overall score of 58 in the Pearson Test of English (Academic) with no score less than 50
Program Structure
The Master of Information Technology requires students to complete 160 credit points, comprising:
- 80 credit points for the Core Module
- 40 credit points for the Flexible Module
- 40 credit points from Prior Learning
Core Module
The Core Module consists of 80 credit points, including:
- 40 credit points for Core Courses
- 40 credit points for one Major from the available Majors
Majors
Students can choose from three Majors:
- Data Analytics
- Networking and Cyber Security
- Software Development
Core Courses
Core Courses include:
- Project and Cyber Security Management
- IT and Cyber Security Governance, Policy, Ethics, and Law
- Work Integrated Learning - Single Project or Work Integrated Learning - Placement
- Research for IT Professionals and Advanced Topics in IT (for students completing a dissertation)
Flexible Module
The Flexible Module consists of 40 credit points, which can be completed by:
- Undertaking a Dissertation
- Completing Electives
Dissertation
The Dissertation requires students to complete 40 credit points, with pre-approval from the Program Director. Eligibility to undertake the Dissertation requires students to have completed at least 40 credit points towards the Master of Information Technology award and attained a minimum Grad Point Average (GPA) of 6.0.

Prior Learning consists of 40 credit points for approved recognized prior study and/or work experience.
Tuition Fees
The indicative annual tuition fee for International students is $43,500, based on a standard full-time study load of 80 credit points.
