Program Overview


Bachelor of Advanced International Tourism and Hotel Management (Honours)

The Bachelor of Advanced International Tourism and Hotel Management (Honours) is a comprehensive program designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and expertise required to succeed in the tourism and hospitality industry. This four-year full-time or eight-year part-time program is offered at the Gold Coast, Nathan, and online campuses.


Program Overview

The program provides students with a deep understanding of the tourism sector, including financial management, leadership, marketing, sustainability, and strategic management. Students will learn directly from industry experts and have the opportunity to engage in practical experiences, such as internships and work-integrated learning activities.


Career Outcomes

Graduates of this program will be prepared for a range of international tourism and hotel management roles, including positions in hotel and resort groups, the accommodation sector, independent restaurants, and internationally recognized chains. They will also be equipped to work with entertainment and leisure providers, such as theme parks, and find roles with suppliers of goods and services to the hospitality industry.

A minor in Tourism Data Analytics is available, which provides students with an understanding of big data analytics and its application in the tourism and hospitality industry.


Electives

Students can choose from a range of electives, including courses in foundation studies, interpersonal skills, language and culture, and community internship.


Program Structure

The program consists of 320 credit points, comprising:


  • 180 credit points of core courses
  • 60 credit points of major courses
  • 80 credit points of flexible courses, which can include a second major, minors, or electives

Honours Component

The honours component of the program provides students with the opportunity to specialize and gain advanced knowledge and skills in a specific area of interest. Students will complete a research dissertation and a range of courses that develop their research and analytical skills.


Admission Requirements

Admission to the program requires a minimum overall band score of 6.5 on the IELTS (Academic) test, with no sub-score less than 6.0. Alternative entry requirements, such as TOEFL or ISLPR scores, are also accepted.


Tuition Fees

The indicative annual tuition fee for international students is $38,000.


Credit and Recognition of Prior Learning

Students may be eligible for credit based on prior study or experience. The program also offers recognition of prior learning, which can reduce the amount of time it takes to complete the degree.

Attendance Information

The program is offered full-time and part-time at the Nathan and Gold Coast campuses and online. Students can choose to study courses at other campuses where the program structure allows. Online students will have access to course materials, learning activities, and support services via Learning@Griffith.


Work-Integrated Learning

All students will have the opportunity to undertake a work-integrated learning activity in this degree program, which integrates theoretical learning with its application in the workplace.
