George Alexander Foundation Scholarships
The George Alexander Foundation Scholarship is designed to support school-leavers with costs associated with accommodation, allowing them to achieve their full potential while studying at Griffith University.

Scholarship Details
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be an Australian citizen
- Be a commencing student who has recently completed secondary school (within the last 2 years) and not previously completed an undergraduate degree at any institution
- Have applied for, and accepted to study, an undergraduate degree at Griffith University commencing in Trimester 1 2026
- Be relocating or need to move away from home in order to undertake an undergraduate degree (preference will be given to students relocating from an Australian rural, regional, or remote area)
- Have achieved an ATAR of 80

Achievements
- Leadership and community: Include school leadership positions
- Referee details: Provide two referee reports from two different sources
- An academic refereea person qualified to comment on academic studies, preferably a subject coordinator from the applicant's secondary school and/or a school principal
- A character refereesuch as a current or past employer, or a person competent to supply a character reference (for example, a person with whom the applicant has undertaken community service or volunteer activities)
Statements
- Personal statement: In 500 words or less, cover career goals, community involvement, and how this scholarship will benefit the applicant
- Challenges statement: In 250 words or less, cover challenges faced or overcome
- Supporting documentation: Upload a CV, which includes awards and competitions, any measure of leadership and leadership potential demonstrated in academic and personal life (including school leadership positions), and the level and quality of community participation undertaken (including volunteering, work history, sporting, and other community activities undertaken in/outside of school)
- Accepted formats for upload: PDF, Word, JPEG, or Excel
Value and Payment
Value
- Maximum value is $24,000, paid in instalments over a maximum of three years
- Instalments of $4,000 are payable in Trimester 1 and Trimester 2 only, each year for a maximum of three years
Payment
- Payments are made up to three weeks after the census date, subject to satisfying scholarship terms and conditions
Terms and Conditions
To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients will be required to:
- Remain enrolled full-time in their undergraduate degree at Griffith University
- Maintain a minimum term GPA of 5.0
- These conditions are verified each trimester at the census date
- If a recipient fails to successfully meet these conditions, scholarship payments may be withheld, or the scholarship may be terminated
As a scholarship recipient, the student would be required to:
- Promote the value of the scholarship program within and outside the University
- Participate in a network of George Alexander Foundation Scholars, with a focus on academic opportunities and community service, as appropriate
- Provide an annual written report to the University outlining how they have performed during the year and how the scholarship funds have been expended
Donor Details
The George Alexander Foundation was established by Mr. Alexander AM (Order of Australian Medal) in 1972 to provide grants for public charitable purposes in Australia. These scholarships help recipients with costs associated with accommodation fees, allowing them to achieve their full potential while studying at Griffith University.
