Program Overview


Introduction to the Griffith Tax Clinic

The Griffith Tax Clinic is a unique program that offers students the opportunity to apply their tax knowledge in a real-world setting. As a central part of the clinic, student advisers play a crucial role in assisting and empowering members of the community to be more confident and knowledgeable about their tax obligations.

Students participating in the clinic will have the opportunity to conduct free public seminars for recent immigrants and people about to commence a business, covering essential tax issues. They will also develop their verbal and written communication skills, as well as research skills, under the supervision of a Registered Tax Agent.


Becoming an Intern

To apply for an internship, students must enroll in one of the specified courses via their university enrollment system. Eligibility criteria apply.


Applying to Participate

As a Griffith student, you can enroll and assist at the Griffith Tax Clinic as part of a course for credit. Opportunities are open to both undergraduate and postgraduate Business and Law students. The available courses include:


  • Commerce Internship 3000AFE
  • 5339LAW Internship Clinic
  • 7004GBS PG Business Internship I
  • 3000GBS UG Business Internship I

Applications typically open approximately two months before the relevant trimester. To apply, students must submit:


  • Current CV
  • Academic transcript
  • Statement outlining why they want to assist in the clinic

Once enrolled, students will work at the clinic one day a week, under the supervision of a Registered Tax Agent, providing tax assistance to society's most vulnerable, including small businesses.


Conditions of Application

Involvement in the Clinic offers a fantastic opportunity to learn firsthand how studies are relevant and can be applied to real taxpayers. Griffith students from all campuses can apply, provided they have completed approximately half of their degree and have done (or are currently doing) the required tax law or income tax courses.
