Academic Equity Development Program
The Academic Equity Development Program (AEDP) provides eligible academic and research staff with support to conduct sustained activities to further their development as scholars, researchers, teachers, and/or practitioners.
Program Overview
The program is awarded in recognition of the achievements and potential achievements of individual staff, despite previous career disadvantage that has been experienced and related to certain attributes or circumstances.
Eligibility Criteria
Nominations are open to level A and B academic staff (including research-only staff) who meet the following criteria:
- Must have been employed by the University for three or more years
- Be performing satisfactorily under the Academic Staff Review Process
- Have not been the recipient of any form of teaching release in the past three years (e.g., ASP or faculty support)
- Have not been the recipient of this program (includes ASEDP/TASDSS/VCASDS) in the past five years
- Staff with nominated attributes or life circumstances and responsibilities
Nominated Attributes
The nominated attributes include:
- Family responsibilities
- First Peoples
- People with disabilities
- People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- People of diverse genders, sexes, and sexualities (LGBTIQ+)
- Women
Program Support
Each year, central funding will be provided for up to four academic or research staff members to undertake an appropriate program (e.g., T1, T2, T3). The amount provided for each supported program will be approximately $20,000. Academic Groups may wish to fund additional programs as appropriate. Central funding may be provided to the School/Department to cover teaching release or may be allocated directly to the staff member to support research or related activities, or a combination of both.
Application Process
To apply, candidates must:
- Complete the application form, which includes providing a credible proposed program of academic work for the relevant period and demonstrating the value of the program in terms of professional development and the expected benefits for the University.
- Attach their Academic Portfolio to the application form.
- Submit their application through the Head of Element to the Dean (Academic).
- A Group selection committee will be formed, and a preferred candidate will be selected.
- The candidate will be recommended to the Senior Lead (Diversity & Inclusion), who will then forward the recommendation to the Provost for final approval.
