Program Overview
Introduction to the Stand Up Speak Out (SUSO) Program
The Stand Up Speak Out (SUSO) program is designed to help teens aged 12-17 years who struggle with anxiety in social settings. This 10-week program provides personalized strategies to make participants feel more comfortable and confident.
Program Description
Anxiety in children and adolescents can be expected and normal; however, at times, this may become severe and interfere with their everyday life. The SUSO program teaches strategies to better manage feelings, thoughts, and behaviors in social settings.
Program Format
The 10-week program is run by a registered psychologist and co-facilitated by provisionally registered psychologists. Teens attend a 1.5-hour class each week for the duration of the program.
Cost
The cost of the program is $250, payable at the first group session, and $21.65 per session, which is eligible for a full Medicare rebate with a Mental Health Plan from a GP.

- Term 3 (12-17 year olds) Mondays 3:30pm-5:00pm from 16 July (last session 17 September)
- Term 3 (12-17 year olds) Thursdays 3:30pm-5:00pm from 19 July (last session 20 September)
Location
The SUSO program is conducted at the Griffith University Psychology Clinic, Griffith Health Centre, Gold Coast campus, Level 4, G40 Building, corner of Olsen Avenue and Parklands drive, Southport 4222.
Additional Programs
Other programs available include the Child Anxiety Program for 8-11 year olds, which helps children with strategies to reduce anxiety by providing practical solutions to everyday situations. This program aims to help children better understand and manage their anxiety.
