Program Overview

Introduction to the Stand Up Speak Out (SUSO) Program

The Stand Up Speak Out (SUSO) program is designed to help teens aged 12-17 years who struggle with anxiety in social settings. This 10-week program provides personalized strategies to make participants feel more comfortable and confident.

Program Description

Anxiety in children and adolescents can be expected and normal; however, at times, this may become severe and interfere with their everyday life. The SUSO program teaches strategies to better manage feelings, thoughts, and behaviors in social settings.

Program Format

The 10-week program is run by a registered psychologist and co-facilitated by provisionally registered psychologists. Teens attend a 1.5-hour class each week for the duration of the program.

Cost

The cost of the program is $250, payable at the first group session, and $21.65 per session, which is eligible for a full Medicare rebate with a Mental Health Plan from a GP.

Available Classes for 2018

  • Term 3 (12-17 year olds) Mondays 3:30pm-5:00pm from 16 July (last session 17 September)
  • Term 3 (12-17 year olds) Thursdays 3:30pm-5:00pm from 19 July (last session 20 September)

Location

The SUSO program is conducted at the Griffith University Psychology Clinic, Griffith Health Centre, Gold Coast campus, Level 4, G40 Building, corner of Olsen Avenue and Parklands drive, Southport 4222.
