Master of Science in Applied Epidemiology
The Robert Koch Institute offers postgraduate training in applied epidemiology (PAE). The program has qualified scientists in the field of infectious disease epidemiology since 1996.
Program Overview
Participants in the PAE have the opportunity to earn a master's degree by simultaneously enrolling in the continuing education Master of Science in Applied Epidemiology (MSAE) program offered in cooperation with the Charitť - Universitštsmedizin Berlin via the Berlin School of Public Health platform. The MSAE master's program is fully integrated into the PAE training program.
Program Structure
The continuing education Master of Science in Applied Epidemiology begins annually in the winter semester (mid-September). The program is full-time over two years and is integrated into a research and work position at the Robert Koch Institute. The modules are part of the EPIET training program (European Program for Intervention Epidemiology Training). The program requires 120 ECTS credit points to be earned over the two years of study.
Admission Requirements
- A completed degree in medicine or veterinary sciences
- Very good knowledge of German and English
- Applied skills in software programs for statistical analysis
- At least one year of professional experience, preferably in the field of public health services or in the field of microbiology / infectiology
Program Details
- Applications for Admission, including scholarships, are advertised in February / March of each year.
- There are approximately 10 places available.
- The program is designed to provide advanced training in applied epidemiology, with a focus on infectious disease epidemiology.
