Program Overview
The program focuses on the surveillance of measures for infection prevention, specifically targeting critically ill patients who are at a higher risk of acquiring nosocomial infections due to the severity of their illness and the associated diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
Program Description
The program aims to reduce complications and long-term consequences of intensive medical treatment by avoiding nosocomial infections. The hygienic hand disinfection is identified as the most effective measure to prevent nosocomial infections and is part of a bundle of measures defined by quality indicators to improve treatment outcomes for critically ill patients.
Target Audience
This program is designed for all professional groups involved in the intensive medical treatment of critically ill patients. Participants will acquire theoretical foundations in the following areas of hygienic hand disinfection:
- The five indications for hygienic hand disinfection
- Quality-assuring measures for hand disinfection
Program Structure
This module is trained in the simulation workshop "Infection Management" together with the module "QI 6: Measures for Infection Management".
