Program Overview


Introduction to the R Programming Package

The Charitť Universitštsmedizin Berlin, in collaboration with the QUEST Center (Quality | Ethics | Open Science | Translation) of the BIH, offers free software courses in R for all members of the Charitť and associated institutions.


General Information

This course teaches participants the basics of programming in R, simple statistical analyses, and graphic creation. All participants must provide their personal, official email address (@charite.de, @bih, @mdc) during registration, which will be used for further correspondence.


ECTS

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate for the promotional environment (1 ECTS).


Course Dates

The next course will take place in four units on the following dates:


  • Tuesday, January 13, 2026
  • Thursday, January 15, 2026
  • Tuesday, January 20, 2026
  • Thursday, January 22, 2026 Each unit will be from 16:00 to 18:00. The location will be announced after successful registration.

Target Audience

The introduction to R is designed as a supplement to individual statistical consulting for doctoral students or scientists who want to quickly start evaluating their data.


Course Content

The course covers:


  • Introduction to R and the RStudio user interface
  • Importing, saving, and cleaning data
  • Descriptive statistics in R
  • Creating graphs in R
  • Simple statistical tests in R
  • Simple regression models in R
  • Basic programming structures and control flow

Registration

Registration is only possible when course dates are available. Participants must use their personal email account (usually @charite.de, @bih, @mdc) to register. The number of participants is limited. To receive a certificate, attendance at all four units is required.
