Program Overview

The Charité Fortbildungsakademie offers an update course according to § 28 Genetic Engineering Safety Regulations, a one-day seminar aimed at individuals who require an update on genetic engineering safety regulations.


Target Audience

The primary target audience for this course includes:

  • Biological Safety Officer (BBS)
  • Individuals who have completed a recognized basic course in genetic engineering safety and wish to update their knowledge

Course Description

This seminar is officially recognized by the Berlin State Office for Health and Social Affairs as an update course according to § 28 GenTSV. It is designed for individuals who need to update their knowledge of genetic engineering safety regulations, particularly those in leadership positions or responsible for biological safety.


Course Objectives

The objective of this course is to provide participants with an update on the latest developments in genetic engineering safety, enabling them to demonstrate their knowledge and compliance with regulatory requirements.


Course Content

The curriculum is based on the guidelines set by the Federal/State Working Group on Genetic Engineering (LAG-Gentechnik) and covers topics including:


  • Legislation on safety measures for genetic engineering facilities and occupational health and safety
  • Hazard potential of organisms with special consideration of microorganisms
  • Safety measures for genetic engineering facilities
  • Record keeping requirements

Participation Fees

  • The participation fee is waived for Charité employees.
  • External participants are required to pay a fee of 300.00.
