Program Overview
SanSim15 - Notfallsimulation fŁr Notfallsanitšter
Overview
The SanSim15 program is a simulation-based training for emergency medical technicians (Notfallsanitšter*innen). The program consists of 15 simulated emergency medical services deployments, designed to provide participants with the necessary skills and competencies to handle complex emergency situations.
Clinical Relevance
The establishment of the Notfallsanitšterin profession in 2014 marked the highest non-medical qualification in emergency medical services. Notfallsanitšterinnen are responsible for providing medical care to patients in emergency situations until the arrival of a doctor or until they reach the hospital. They also assist in the medical emergency and acute care of critically ill patients.
Learning Concept
The program's learning concept is structured and context-specific, with scenarios designed to mimic real-life emergency situations. The simulation training follows the principles of "learning in a protected environment." The simulated deployments are video-recorded and thoroughly discussed with the participants (Debriefing). The program also focuses on analyzing and conveying "Human Factors," which is a unique aspect of simulation-based emergency medical training.
Learning Objectives
The simulated deployments cover the typical spectrum of demanding emergency medical services deployments. The curriculum follows current guidelines, with a particular emphasis on communication, teamwork, and systematic decision-making to prevent avoidable errors. The video-based analysis enhances the participants' competencies in this critical area.
