Description

The program aims to address the growing need for understanding and accommodating individuals of diverse gender identities in healthcare settings. As society becomes more accepting, there is a increasing demand for appropriate support structures, counseling services, and communication strategies within healthcare institutions like Charitť. This course is exclusively for Charitť employees.


Objective

  • The objective of the program is to equip participants with the foundational knowledge and necessities to facilitate a discrimination-free interaction with patients, their relatives, and colleagues who identify as part of the gender diversity spectrum.
  • Participants will learn how to create a qualitative added value in their interactions.

  • Definitions of Trans* / Inter* / Queer / Non-Binšr
  • Legal foundations
  • Societal aspects (historical development, societal situation, constructs of gender)
  • Discrimination and disadvantage / handling in action and language
  • Long-term consequences for those affected
  • Special challenges in counseling, accompanying, and caring for patients, relatives, and staff
  • Clinical aspects
  • The process of transition (treatment and accompaniment) / possibilities and existing challenges
  • Current structural problems of personnel and digital systems
  • Accommodation in a functioning binary system, inclusivity
  • Realignment of science and research
