Program Overview

Erasmus Mundus Master's Degree in Coastal and Marine Engineering and Management (CoMEM)

The Erasmus Mundus master's degree in Coastal and Marine Engineering and Management (CoMEM) is a program designed to offer advanced training to future scientists and engineers with responsibilities in coastal, port, and open sea projects, including management and administration functions of maritime engineering companies. During the program, students will become familiar with key issues to provide sustainable, environmentally respectful, legally acceptable, and economically viable solutions to various problems in the fields covered by CoMEM.

Program Structure

  • The program offers a well-conceived combination of topics, theory, and practice in five different pathways.
  • It provides students with the added value of mobility between the universities of the consortium, fostering their social integration and taking advantage of the specific skills offered by the five consortium institutions.
  • The pathways are:
    • Future Ports and Waterways
    • Coastal Environmental Engineering
    • Shore Management

Professional Outcomes

  • Professional Outcomes: Students will specialize in environmental engineering, environmental management, and business management. Therefore, master's degree holders can work practically in any area related to coastal, port, and open sea engineering and management, both in the public and private sectors. They will also develop research skills that will enable them to pursue a doctoral degree or work in specialized areas of the industry.
  • Competencies:
    • Transversal Competencies: Describe what a graduate should know or be able to do upon completing the learning process, regardless of the degree. The transversal competencies established at the UPC are entrepreneurship and innovation, sustainability and social commitment, knowledge of a third language (preferably English), teamwork, and proper use of information resources.

Double Degree Agreements

  • Consult double degree agreements with other international universities.
