Program Overview

Master's Degree in Health Data Science

The Master's Degree in Health Data Science is an interuniversity program participated by 7 Catalan universities (URV, UPC, UB, UAB, UdG, UdL, and UVic-UCC), and the Université Grenoble Alpes, promoted by the Bioinformatics Barcelona (BIB) association. The program is entirely in English and has a clear international vocation.

Objectives

The main objectives of the program are to:

• Form scientists and data specialists in the management and analysis of large volumes of health data, prepared to provide solutions with an impact on improving healthcare assistance.
• Provide interdisciplinary and transversal training necessary to identify and value the opportunities of Data Science applied to health challenges.
• Train entrepreneurs in the field of digital health at the European level, capable of creating the necessary tools to manage, analyze, and extract information from big data in the clinical environment and identify business opportunities.

• Duration: 2 academic years, 120 ECTS credits.
• Start: September.
• Schedule and modality: Non-presential.
• Language: English.

• General requirements: Academic requirements for access to a master's degree.
• Places: 80.
• Pre-enrollment: This interuniversity master's degree is not coordinated by the UPC. Pre-enrollment must be done at the coordinating university: Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV).

Professional Outcomes

Graduates of the Master's Degree in Health Data Science will be qualified to work in the public sector (public agencies, universities, research centers, and large scientific infrastructures, hospitals, and research hospitals) and in the private sector (technology-based companies, pharmaceutical companies, consulting firms, and insurance companies), as well as in the following main areas:

Competences

Transversal Competences

The transversal competences describe what a graduate is capable of knowing or doing upon completing their learning process, regardless of the degree. The transversal competences established by the UPC are:
