Program Overview
Introduction to the Doctoral Program
The doctoral program at the University offers a comprehensive and structured approach to doctoral studies, providing students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their research endeavors.
Program Requirements
To be eligible for the doctoral program, students must meet the following requirements:
- Throughout the training stage necessary to obtain the doctoral degree, the doctoral student must have completed one or more stays of a minimum of three months outside of Spain in one or more higher education institutions or recognized research centers with the aim of complementing and reinforcing their research training.
- A part of the thesis, at least the summary and conclusions, must have been written and presented in one of the usual languages for scientific communication in its field of knowledge and different from those that are official in Spain.
- At least two of the experts who have prepared a thesis report must belong to a non-Spanish higher education institution or research institute and not coincide with the researchers who received the doctoral student and carried out tutoring or work direction activities in the host entity.
- At least one doctor who is an expert from a non-Spanish higher education or research institution and different from the person responsible for the stay must have been part of the thesis evaluation panel.
- The defense of the thesis must have been carried out at the UPC facilities or, in the case of joint programs, at the place specified in the collaboration agreement.
Requesting the International Mention
To request the international mention, students must submit the following documentation:
- Application for international mention for the title of doctor.
- Endorsement and authorization for the international mention in the title of doctor.
- Certificate of stay issued by the person responsible for the research group of the organization where it was carried out.
- Previous report from two doctors who belong to a non-Spanish higher education institution or research center.
