Doble Titulación en Matemáticas y Música UPC-ESMUC
Introduction
The Doble Titulación en Matemáticas y Música UPC-ESMUC is a unique joint degree program in Mathematics and Music offered by the Facultad de Matemáticas y Estadística (FME) and the Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña (ESMUC). This program is designed for students with high capabilities in both mathematics and music.
Why this Double Degree?
The FME has detected that many mathematics students have a musical vocation and have studied music professionally. However, they have had to choose between mathematics and music when entering university. This double degree program aims to address this issue by providing a tailored plan of studies that allows students to pursue both passions.
Why FME and ESMUC?
Both the FME and ESMUC have a reputation for quality, high standards, and academic excellence, attracting the best students in their respective fields. The mathematics studies at the FME have been accredited with excellence by the AQU Cataluña.
Target Audience
This double degree program is directed towards students with high capabilities in both mathematics and music.
Location
The mathematics courses will be taught at the FME (Pau Gargallo, 14, 08028 Barcelona), and the music courses will be taught at the ESMUC (C/Padilla, 155, Edifici L'Auditori, 08013 Barcelona).
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the program, students must:
- Meet the cut-off grade for the Mathematics degree
- Pass the ESMUC entrance exam
- Pass a specific mathematics exam A selection committee will choose the best candidates based on these three criteria.
Mathematics Exam
The mathematics exam will consist of two parts: a multiple-choice questionnaire and a problem-solving session. The exam will take place on July 13 (to be confirmed) at the FME.
Plan of Studies
The program consists of 420 credits, with 60 credits convalidated. The plan of studies is divided into 10 academic quarters (five courses) and includes:
- A personalized plan of studies
- Adapted schedules
- A developed plan of studies by courses Examples of provisional plans of studies are available for Mathematics-Piano and Mathematics-Composition.
Enrollment
Enrollment will be managed by both centers, with automatic convalidation of subjects.
