Bachelor of Commerce International

Overview

The Bachelor of Commerce International is a comprehensive program that combines business and language studies.


What will I study?

The program offers a wide range of courses, including business, economics, and finance, as well as language studies in French, German, Spanish, or Chinese.


Entry Requirements

  • Students must meet the minimum entry requirements for the program, which includes a minimum grade of H4 or equivalent in French.
  • Other languages will be taught from a beginner's level.

Study Abroad

  • Travel abroad to the country of the language being studied is mandatory for the third year of the course.
  • Students will be taught in the host country language, except for those studying in China, who will be taught in English.

Languages

  • Students can choose to study two languages from a beginner's level, but it is advised to think carefully about this option as it may be challenging.
  • Certain language combinations, such as Beginners German and Beginners Spanish, cannot be taken together.

Who pays for the International Travel do you have to pay fees?

All students are liable for relevant UCD registration/tuition/student levy fees, and full fees if reintroduced. Students do not pay tuition fees abroad, but some EU partners may charge for language courses or registration fees.


Are internships available within the BComm Intl?

There is no internship program available on the BComm International, but the Careers Development Centre will keep you updated with job opportunities throughout the term, summer breaks, and after graduation.


Can I become a teacher with this course?

It may be possible to pursue a career in teaching, but you should consult directly with the Teaching Council of Ireland's website for the list of modules you must take within the course to satisfy their requirements.


Scholarships and Awards

Every year, UCD awards a range of scholarships to students, including:


  • Ad Astra Academic: awarded to students who achieve 6A1s in their LC
  • Ad Astra Sports: students must apply before 31st January through the Ad Astra Website
  • Ad Astra Performing Arts: students must apply before 31st January through the Ad Astra Website

These scholarships are based on academic achievement, sporting and artistic talent, or are specifically used to encourage students who may not otherwise attend university.
