Heartsaver CPR/AED Training
Aimed at
This course is open to all staff members and postgraduate students who wish to know how to use Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) located around the UCD campus.
Objectives
At the end of the course, participants will have acquired the basic techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), knowledge of how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and the relief of choking for adults and children.

- Adult CPR
- Child CPR
- Use of Face Mask Barrier Devices
- Adult Choking - Conscious and Unconscious
- Child Choking - Conscious and Unconscious
- Safe and effective use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Special considerations when using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Skills Group Practice
The additional CFR portion of the course includes:
- Stroke assessment (FAST Assessment)
- Heart attack and the administration of aspirin
- Patient Handover & CFR report
- Infection Control
- Post event issues (critical incident stress awareness and debrief)
- Team resuscitation
