Introduction to the Health Sciences Summer School

The Health Sciences Summer School is a program offered by University College Dublin, running annually from the second week in June. The program duration is either two or four weeks, depending on the courses chosen by the students.

Program Details

• The two-week program has an application code of CT26.
• The four-week program has an application code of CT28.
• The program starts on June 2nd in Dublin.
• Students have the option to take one or two taught courses from the available options.

Course Options

• Health: A Systems Perspective (5 ECTS): This course runs from June 2nd to June 12th, with students attending classes on campus and engaging in online material before submitting assignments.
• Critical Appraisal of Research For Healthcare (5 Credits): This course combines large group lectures and smaller group work sessions from June 2nd to June 12th, followed by autonomous work and a portfolio submission.
• Critical Appraisal of Research for Healthcare (10 Credits): This course runs from June 2nd to June 26th, including mentor-led group sessions during the third week.

Grading System

• The grading system at University College Dublin is European, with honors grades being A, B, and C, and D being a pass grade.
• Results and transcripts are available after the first week of September.

Accommodation

• Students are recommended to live on campus during the program.
• University College Dublin hosts hundreds of students during the summer, ensuring a lively campus environment.
• Facilities include a student center, gym, cinema, shops, and woodland walks.
• Accommodation is shared with fellow students in apartments with individual bedrooms and communal kitchens and living spaces.
• Bed linen is supplied and changed weekly, and Wi-Fi is available campus-wide.

Application and Acceptance

• The application deadline is March 31st, 2026.
• Students receive further information regarding accommodation booking procedures after the application deadline and upon acceptance to the program.
