Mastertrack Edge Intelligence

The Mastertrack Edge Intelligence (EI) equips students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience to design, develop, and optimize intelligent embedded systems that operate at the network edge. The track focuses on integrating artificial intelligence into devices with limited resources, enabling real-time data processing precisely where the data is collected.

Highlights of the Program

  • Interdisciplinary approach: A joint track offered by the faculties of Mathematics & Computer Science (M&CS) and Electrical Engineering (EE), combining software and hardware expertise.
  • State-of-the-art research: Courses and projects embedded in leading research on embedded systems and edge intelligence.
  • Strong industry connections: Collaborations with Brainport companies such as ASML, Philips, Signify, NXP, ThermoFisher, and Canon.
  • Practical learning: Access to embedded hardware (e.g., Raspberry Pi, Arduino, FPGA) and extensive lab assignments.
  • Societal impact: Focus on sustainable, privacy-protecting, and resilient intelligent systems that reduce dependence on cloud infrastructure.
