Program Overview

EngD Software Technology Program

The Professional Doctorate in Engineering (EngD) degree program in Software Technology is provided by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of Eindhoven University of Technology. This accredited and challenging two-year engineering degree program focuses on strengthening technical and non-technical competencies related to the design and development of software for resource-constrained software-intensive systems.

Program Overview

The program aids in developing the capability of individuals to work within a professional context, advocating a scientific research-based approach to solving problems. It extends and integrates with new elements, emphasizing the development and strengthening of competencies necessary for finding technical solutions. Traineeships are salaried positions, and after successfully completing all requirements, trainees are awarded a Professional Doctorate in Engineering (EngD) degree.

Program Structure

All courses are taught in English, and a Dutch language course is included. The program focuses on systems/software architecting and designing software for software-intensive systems in multiple application domains for the High Tech Industry.

Graduation Projects

The program includes various graduation projects, which can be found in the ST EngD project booklets from 2014 to 2024. These projects demonstrate the application of software technology in different fields, such as:

  • Working on cutting-edge technology with Philips Lighting
  • Investigating a new method of software development for DAF
  • In search for hidden particles at CERN
  • Contributing to the future of ESA's space missions
  • EngD ST trainees at Océ-Canon
  • Using AI to streamline remote communication in healthcare
  • Keeping an AI on astronauts' emotions
  • Airbus takes EngD trainees on a flight into the future
