About Program
Program Overview
Program Overview
The Masterclass Elektrische Veiligheid (Electrical Safety) is a comprehensive program designed to provide a theoretical and practical foundation in electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and electrostatic discharge (ESD) phenomena, primarily in medically used spaces.
Target Audience
The program is tailored for clinical physicists (in training), biomedical technologists (in training to become Quality and Management Experts), and other technology professionals working in healthcare.
Program Objective
The objective of the course is to provide insight into the basic concepts of electrical safety, "medical grounding," or "electrical installation in medical spaces/rooms."
Program Structure
- The program consists of 2 interactive days.
- The study load for this masterclass is 12 hours.
- The course is offered once a year.
- Upon completion and discussion, participants receive a digital confirmation of participation.
Program Content
Day 1
- Basic concepts from norms
- Differences between medical devices: Class I and Class II, battery-powered
- Differences between type applied parts B | BF | CF
- Biology | current paths | leakage currents | touch voltages | impedance | potential shift
- Differences between earth and equipotential bonding
- Protections: patterns, circuit breakers, earth leakage circuit breakers, insulation, and impedance monitoring
- Basic concepts from NEN-EN-IEC 60601-1 (Medical Equipment)
- Risks with network-powered non-medical equipment for the patient
- Risks with the use of distribution blocks
- Explanation of earth connections | earth symbols | protective measures
- NEN 1010 classifications - Earthing - Transformers - Demo insulation monitoring
- Functional differences between the separating transformer and protective transformer
- Unwanted current and unwanted voltage drop (network voltage continuity)
- Space classifications (K0 | K1 | K2 | K3 | G0 | G1 | G2-10mv) | risk analysis
- Sense and nonsense in medically used spaces
Day 2
- Loop values | EMC loops | data cabling | shielding | galvanic separations
- Exercises with medical equipment versus space classification and how to design
- IEC 62353 measurement on medical equipment
- EMC aspects in medically used spaces | new developments | hybrid earthing
- Network filters in medical equipment
- Static electricity (ESD), new method for floor measurement
- EMI issues, EMC pitfalls, CE marking, CE + CE CE | EMC legislation
- EMC demos
- Many practical examples and case studies
