Program Overview
Introduction to Waddenlab
Waddenlab is an exciting opportunity for students from all educational backgrounds to explore, investigate, and experience the Wadden Sea and its challenges. The program takes place from 11-17 July 2026 and is open to all TU/e students, as well as one external HBO or MBO student from another institution.
Program Description
During Waddenlab, students will dive into the Wadden Sea, exploring ecological processes, species interactions, the effects of climate change, tourism, industry, sediment dynamics, and the role of human activity. The program will be conducted on a sailing ship, which will serve as the means of transport, home base, workspace, studio, and meeting place. Students will work alongside experts, lecturers, makers, designers, biologists, and students from a wide variety of disciplines.
Accommodation and Life on Board
Students will stay overnight on the sailing ship, with shared cabins and facilities. Meals will be prepared together on board, with participants cooking in turns. The ship is fully heated and has comfortable cabins, toilets, and showers.
