Course Description
Educational Studies 2 is an extension of the basic knowledge from Educational Studies 1. The emphasis is on applying educational theories and insights on the topics:
- Diversity in the classroom
- Differentiating in the classroom/doing justice to differences
- Mentorship and parental involvement
- Support using ICT
- Adolescents and special needs students
- Challenge-based learning
- Professional development of teachers
Objectives
The student:
- Can analyse and apply theories of adolescent psychology, diversity and differentiation to support students' social-emotional and academic development in a differentiated and diverse classroom environment.
- Has sufficient pedagogical and didactic knowledge to address common learning, behavioural and developmental challenges in diverse classroom environments.
- Has knowledge of innovation in teaching practices, such as integrating ICT or implementing challenge-based learning (CBL)
- Has developed a personal vision of teaching that is theoretically grounded and considers educational challenges, including differentiation and inclusiveness.
- Translates own vision into practical strategies that can be applied within the school environment and influence broader educational policy or practice
- Works with fellow students on educational problems/scenarios around diversity and differentiation and present their work giving and receiving feedback.
- Reflects on own actions.
