Introduction to the Clinical and Consulting Psychology Professional Ability Long-Term Training Project (CARE Project)

The Clinical and Consulting Psychology Professional Ability Long-Term Training Project (CARE Project) is a two-and-a-half-year program offered by the School of Psychology at Beijing Normal University. The program aims to cultivate professional clinical and consulting psychologists who can provide high-quality psychological services to the community.


Program Objectives

The program has three main objectives:


  • To equip students with a solid foundation in clinical and consulting psychology theories and skills, enabling them to work independently as consultants under supervision.
  • To foster a high level of professional ethics and legal awareness, ensuring that students understand the boundaries of their work.
  • To empower students with the ability to continuously grow and develop in the field of psychological health services, integrating scientific concepts and an open attitude to choose their career paths.

Program Features

The program is designed with reference to international standards for training clinical and consulting psychologists. It emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, encouraging students to develop their skills and interests in various areas of consulting techniques and career development. The curriculum is divided into four modules:


  1. Psychological Foundations and Consulting Theories: This module provides a solid foundation in psychological theories and consulting principles.
  2. Consulting Theories and Practices: This module focuses on the practical application of consulting theories, including various theoretical approaches and techniques.
  3. Advanced Consulting Theories and Practices: This module enhances students' abilities in consulting practices, including specialized courses on common psychological health issues and consultant self-improvement.
  4. Clinical and Consulting Practices: This module provides hands-on experience in clinical and consulting settings, ensuring that students gain practical skills in psychological services.

Curriculum and Faculty

The program boasts a team of experienced faculty members from renowned institutions, ensuring that students receive high-quality instruction and mentorship. The curriculum is carefully designed to meet the needs of the psychological health services industry, with a focus on both theoretical foundations and practical applications.


Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the program, applicants must:


  • Hold a bachelor's degree or above in any field.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the values of psychological consulting and a desire to work in the helping profession.
  • Preferably have a background in psychology, medicine, education, sociology, or management.
  • Be able to commit to 10-20 hours of study per week.
  • Have no criminal record.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fee for the program is 168,000 CNY per person for two and a half years, payable in two installments:


  • The first installment of 80,000 CNY is due within 20 days of receiving the admission notice.
  • The second installment of 88,000 CNY is due 20 days before the start of the second academic year.

Alumni Discount

Beijing Normal University alumni are eligible for a discounted tuition fee of 162,000 CNY per person for two and a half years, payable in two installments:


  • The first installment of 77,000 CNY is due within 20 days of receiving the admission notice.
  • The second installment of 85,000 CNY is due 20 days before the start of the second academic year.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate from the program, students must:


  • Complete all required courses.
  • Accumulate 300 hours of clinical practice, supervision, and counseling records, with no major ethical issues.
  • Pass a case report defense organized by the School of Psychology.
  • Submit a reflective report on their learning and growth throughout the program.

Certificate

Upon completing the program, students will receive a certificate of completion from the School of Psychology, Beijing Normal University.
