Program Overview


Program Overview

The Programa de Voluntariado Internacional de las Universidades P𠎀licas de la Comunidad de Madrid offers projects for social or environmental volunteering in countries in the South for three or six months. The volunteering is related to the academic area of undergraduate and graduate students from public universities in Madrid and takes place in a social organization or university in the South. This program is co-financed by the Comunidad de Madrid.


Objective

The objective of the program is to raise awareness and provide training in necessary values for the comprehensive development of students. Additionally, it aims to promote student participation in international projects and foster voluntary action among young volunteers.


Results

The result of the program is the creation of a network and cooperation links between public universities in Madrid and destination entities in countries in the South to enhance the work of university student volunteering as a tool for awareness and cooperation. It also provides students with the opportunity to exchange and learn in a joint and practical manner.


What Does a Volunteer Do in the Program?

In the case of the UAM, students participate for 3 months or 6 months in specific social and/or environmental volunteering projects developed by universities or non-profit entities in Latin America, Africa, and Europe.


Who Can Participate?

The program is open to students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree and who are willing to collaborate in university volunteering for development during the stipulated period, obtaining personal experience and practical work experience in the university sphere.


Requirements for Participation

To participate, students must:


  1. Be a student at one of the public universities in the Comunidad de Madrid and be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree at the time of application.
  2. Not have previously participated as a volunteer in the "Programa de Voluntariado Internacional de las Universidades P𠎀licas de la Comunidad de Madrid".
  3. Have a great capacity for adaptation to a foreign country, motivation, and commitment.
  4. Have good technical knowledge of the specific area defined for each position.
  5. Have experience, training, or interest in issues related to volunteering and development cooperation.
  6. Pass a face-to-face interview with the Pre-selection Committee of the Universidad Aut鏮oma de Madrid.
  7. Be available to attend the mandatory Training Seminar before departure.

Documentation to Participate

To participate, students must provide:


  1. Application form.
  2. Signed consent, attached to the application form.
  3. Additional documentation:
  • Academic enrollment or document certifying enrollment in the public university of the Comunidad de Madrid at the time of application.
  • Curriculum Vitae adapted to the application.
  • Letter of motivation specific to the chosen position, detailing knowledge, experience in similar tasks, and interest in the position.
  • Photocopy of passport valid during the international volunteering stay.
  • Negative certificate from the Central Registry of Sex Offenders of the Ministry of Justice of the Government of Spain.

How to Process the Application

The application period opens on May 12, 2025, and closes at 2:00 PM on May 23, 2025. The application must be submitted to the General Registry of the University, addressed to the "Oficina de Acci鏮 Solidaria y Cooperaci鏮", within the specified period. The provisional resolution will be published on June 10, 2025, and the final resolution on June 16, 2025.
