Program Overview


Introduction to the Diploma de Experto en Comunicación Pública, Divulgación de la Ciencia y Asesoramiento Científico

The Diploma de Experto en Comunicación Pública, Divulgación de la Ciencia y Asesoramiento Científico is a program designed to provide students with the necessary tools to communicate scientific knowledge to the general public. The program is organized by the Unidad de Cultura Cientifica of the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, in collaboration with the Fundacion Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnologia.


Program Description

The program aims to train students in the dissemination of scientific knowledge to the general public, as well as in the development of skills necessary for scientific advisory roles. The program consists of 28 ECTS credits and is offered in a virtual synchronous mode.


Objectives

The program has the following objectives:


  • To demonstrate the utility and necessity of communicating science to the public
  • To acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of written and oral communication of scientific topics to the general public
  • To acquire skills in organizing scientific dissemination events for the general public
  • To acquire techniques for disseminating science through audiovisual media and social networks
  • To acquire knowledge and skills in producing reports and presenting scientific evidence to public authorities in different formats

Program Structure

The program is divided into three modules:


Module 1: Theoretical

  • Fundamentals and frontiers of public communication of science (3 ECTS)

Module 2: Theoretical-Practical

  • Written communication: news, articles, reports, and dissemination on social networks (4 ECTS)
  • Audiovisual dissemination: formal aspects, tools, and social networks for dissemination (4 ECTS)
  • Scientific dissemination for the general public: activities and exhibitions (4 ECTS)
  • Scientific advisory to public policies and the scientist in the media (3 ECTS)

Module 3: Practical

  • External practices (8 ECTS)
  • Final project (2 ECTS)

Admission Requirements

To access the program, students must have a university degree or equivalent. The admission criteria include:


  • CV (45%)
  • Letter of motivation (15%)
  • Unemployment situation (20%)
  • Link with the UAM (20%)

Tuition Fees and Scholarships

The tuition fee for the program is 1,900€. Scholarships are available, with the selection criteria based on:

Duration and Schedule

The program lasts from September 2025 to September 2026, with classes held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17:00 to 20:00 h. on the TEAMS platform.


Number of Places and Scholarships

The program offers 30 places, with a minimum of 14 students required to start the program. A minimum of 10% of the students will receive scholarships.
