UAM-Santander Grant Program for the Mobility of Young Researchers 2025

The mobility of doctoral students and young researchers is a central element for personal growth and international cooperation, increasing quality and strengthening the university system. The Autonomous University of Madrid recognizes the importance of this mobility in its statutes, stating that "The University will promote the full scientific and teaching training of teaching and research staff in training, facilitating stays at other higher research centers, within budgetary and personnel constraints."

Purpose of the Call for Applications

The aim of this call for applications is to fund research stays at Spanish or foreign universities and research centers for FPI-UAM predoctoral researchers, UAM research trainees, and recent PhD graduates. This funding will facilitate the attainment of the international doctorate distinction for the first two groups of UAM doctoral students, as well as streamline the accreditation process for recent PhD graduates.

Characteristics and Nature of the Aid

• This call for proposals will be funded by Santander's contribution for the 2024 fiscal year, with a maximum total allocation of 200,000.
• The maximum total amount of the grants may be increased if there is an increase in available funds before the grants are awarded.
• A maximum of 133 grants are offered to doctoral students and recent PhD graduates at the Autonomous University of Madrid, with 75% reserved for the former and 25% for the latter.
• If there are not enough postdoctoral candidates to fill the 25% quota, grants may be awarded to doctoral students.
• Similarly, if there were not enough applications to cover the grants for the stays requested by the doctoral students, a greater number of stays could be granted to young PhDs.

Applications must be submitted on the application platforms:

• Electronic Headquarters of the Autonomous University of Madrid
• Santander Open Academy Otherwise, the application will be excluded without the possibility of correction.
