Introduction to the Diploma of Expert in Public Communication, Science Dissemination and Scientific Advising
The Scientific Culture Unit of the Autonomous University of Madrid, in collaboration with the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology-Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, offers a Diploma of Expert in Public Communication, Science Dissemination and Scientific Advising. This program aims to provide professionals, young researchers, and postgraduate students with the necessary tools to improve the dissemination of their research activities and technical knowledge to the general public.
Objectives
The objectives of this program are:
- To demonstrate the utility and necessity of communicating science to the public.
- To acquire theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in producing written and oral texts on scientific topics for the general public.
- To acquire skills in organizing scientific dissemination events for the general public.
- To acquire techniques for disseminating science through audiovisual media and social networks.
- To acquire theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in producing reports and presenting scientific evidence to public authorities in different formats.

Program Description
The knowledge society requires fluid communication between institutions responsible for producing knowledge and the public. Understanding the main avenues of development in scientific and technological research, and its principal risks, is a fundamental element of contemporary culture, and the existence of specialized communicators is essential. This program is designed to provide graduates and postgraduates with the necessary capacities, skills, and knowledge to develop professionally in the field of social dissemination of scientific knowledge, research management, scientific divulgation, promotion of scientific activity, knowledge transfer, scientific journalism, and scientific advising.
