Program Overview


Introduction to the Title of Expert in Public Communication and Science Dissemination

The Scientific Culture Unit of the Autonomous University of Madrid is offering a new edition of the Title of Expert in Public Communication and Science Dissemination. This program is designed to provide professors, young researchers, and postgraduate students with the necessary tools to address and improve the dissemination of their research activities and technical knowledge to the general public.


Presentation

The knowledge society requires fluid communication between the institutions responsible for producing knowledge and the public. Understanding the main avenues of development in scientific and technological research, and its principal risks, is a fundamental element of contemporary culture, and the existence of specialized communicators is essential.


Goals

  • To demonstrate the usefulness and necessity of communicating science to the public.
  • Acquire theoretical and practical knowledge and skills on the production of written and oral texts on scientific topics intended for the general public.
  • Acquire skills in organizing science outreach events aimed at the general public.
  • Acquire the techniques of science communication in audiovisual media and social networks.

Program Details

The Title of Expert in Public Communication and Science Dissemination is offered to train graduates and postgraduates, in order to acquire or improve the capacities, skills, and knowledge necessary for professional development in the field of social dissemination of scientific knowledge, R&D management, that is, institutional scientific dissemination of public or private research centers, as well as the promotion of scientific activity, knowledge transfer, or scientific and popular journalism.
