Scholarly Communication in Africa Programme (SCAP)

The Scholarly Communication in Africa Programme (SCAP) is a research and implementation initiative aimed at promoting open access paradigms in Sub-Saharan Africa. The program has three central pillars:


  • Policy and infrastructure for open access publishing: Developing policies and infrastructure to support open access publishing.
  • Economic aspects of open access publishing: Exploring affordable business models for open online scholarly publishing.
  • Modalities for developing scholarly performance metrics: Developing metrics to measure scholarly performance in open access publishing.
