Course Description
This course is aimed at Clinical Coders and Case Managers, as well as those seeking a career in Clinical Coding or Case Management. The course consists of one day of lectures and a 6-week distance learning assignment.
Entry Requirements
- Grade 12 Certificate is the minimum requirement
Payment Terms
- All course fees are due in full 2 weeks before the training commences for live lectures.
- All course fees are due in full at least 48 hours before the start date for distance learning.
- No payment plans are available.

- Background to CPT and CCSA
- CCSA coding fundamentals
- Rules of bundling
- Combination coding in CCSA
- Unlisted procedure codes
- Discipline specific coding, pertaining to the:
- Musculoskeletal and Nervous Systems
- Gastrointestinal System
- Modifiers in CCSA
- Coding of laparoscopic procedures
- Practical applications
- Use of the PHISC CCSA Coding Standards
Certification
A digital certificate of completion will be issued to participants on successful completion of the course.
Registration
To register, complete the registration form and send a copy of your Grade 12 certificate (and/or highest qualification).
Distance Learning
This course has been converted to e-learning, allowing for self-study. Participants will have 6 weeks to complete the course and must complete an online assessment during this time. There are no specified start dates for the clinical coding courses being completed via e-learning.
Live Lectures
Live lectures will be held via Microsoft Teams. These lectures will only go ahead if the minimum required number of registrations is met. Participants will be notified once the course is confirmed, and payment of the course fee will be requested.
Group Bookings
Group bookings of a minimum of 12 participants can be arranged on request.
