Course Description
A critical need exists to challenge the historical dominance of imperialism in shaping scientific inquiry. Research Methodology that is both trauma-informed and decolonised, recognises that traditional research methodologies have often perpetuated trauma and further marginalised already vulnerable populations. Through sharing trauma-informed research methodologies, the course aims to confront and dismantle the structures that have historically privileged certain perspectives while disregarding others.
Course Objectives
- The course aims to cultivate an environment where diverse voices and methodologies are not only acknowledged but celebrated.
- Through this lens, students will explore methodologies that honour the lived experiences of all individuals, and to pave the way for a more inclusive, equitable, and just approach to academic inquiry.

The course is aimed at researchers from a range of disciplines and professional settings who want to:
- Learn how to conduct original trauma-informed research or,
- Learn how to apply the principles of trauma-informed research in their research practices.

Assessment
- Each participant will be required to write a 2-3 page concept note exploring a potential research topic and their motivation for this
- This assessment has a 50% pass requirement in order to receive the certificate of completion
