Program Overview
Global Program in Economics and Management
The Graduate School of Economics and Management of Tohoku University has been offering an international program called Global Program in Economics and Management (GPEM) since 2014. This program is specifically designed for students who aspire to become global professionals. The goal of GPEM is to offer graduate-level education in economics and management, equipping students with the following skills:
- An ability to address problems and elaborate solutions
- An ability to understand problems in a global context
- An ability to collaborate with people from different languages, cultures, and values
GPEM is designed for both international and Japanese students and will be mainly taught in English. It is possible to obtain a master's degree by taking courses taught in English only. For those who wish to continue research beyond the master's level, an opportunity is available to enter the doctoral program after finishing the GPEM master's program.

The application documents and procedures differ due to the backgrounds of prospective students. There are different procedures for:

- Foreign nationals
